Here at HED, we design and build wheels with exceptional aerodynamic
efficiency using the finest materials. Wheels which handle correctly out in the
real world. Speed and lightness are balanced with strength and durability. These
criteria guide the design of every HED wheel.
For the past 20 years we have been handbuilding wheels at our factory in
White Bear Lake. Our master builder lost count after 10,000 race wheels. World
champion cyclists and triathletes as well as top road teams have asked is to
make them faster.
Working with top athletes challenges us to make products that are strong and
durable. For a pro, crossing the line in first place is what counts. Their gear
has to deliver safe to the line all season long, in all conditions. Working with
pros keeps us honest, pushing us to design and build fast and light products,
but never at the expense of durability. Pro feedback is a vital addition to our
regular wind tunnel sessions.
NOTE: Because we handbuild all our wheels, we can make most of our wheels in
a stronger version for large riders. If you weigh over 190 lbs, we should talk
about your intended use and riding style before you pull the trigger on a new
set of wheels. We can probably make a wheel for you, but it may not be a stock
