Stingers are the swiftest wheels on the road - In 2011 they were piloted to a dozen road and TT national titles and ridden to victory in countless Pro tour races. We're not the only ones who have spent time in the wind tunnel testing stingers. Independent magazines and several pro tour level teams proved that Stinger wheels are the fastest... again. All 2012 Stingers are SCT (Stability Control Technology) tuned.

The 2008 introduction of the C2 platform was a dramatic improvement over our previous designs: aero drag was reduced substantially, and the use of wider tires dramatically improved cornering. Since the introduction of the C2 platform, HED. has spent two full years developing SCT, our proprietary rim profile tuning process. Each rim depth is shaped for lowest aero drag and fine-tuned to maximize stability in crosswinds.

The HED Stinger 6 is our fastest road race wheel. We spent 10 days in the wind tunnel and came out of the other end with a wheel that has lower drag than any wheel up to 82mm deep. We surprised everybody, including ourselves, with the new HED Stinger 6's performance.

How have we made the new HED Stingers so much faster? In a nutshell, we've gone wider and deeper with the tyre cradle and remodelled the profile of the rim around it. That not only improves airflow around the sidewalls by eliminating the unaerodynamic bulge of a narrower rim, but it also means better support for the tyre carcass and better corning with a wider 23mm tub.
