The Jet RC6.9 Black rim brake wheelset is ideal when chasing PBs and podiums in important triathlons or across heavily undulating time trial courses.
The mismatched depth rims promote a perfect performance, with the 60mm deep front rim carving through the air while remaining stable in crosswinds and the 90mm deep rear rim promising the lowest drag possible without resorting to a heavier disc wheel. The rims feature a hybrid construction, blending a carbon fairing with a structural aluminium portion. This manufacturing method promotes the best ratio of low weight, aerodynamics, strength and vertical compliance. The aluminium portion of the rim includes the all-black “Turbine” braking surface that reduces stopping distances by 70% in the wet and 25% in the dry.
A 21mm wide internal rim measurement better supports the sidewalls of tubeless-ready or standard clincher tyres. This broad internal rim design lowers tyre vibrations and reduces the length of the tyre-to-road contact patch to reduce rolling resistance and improve cornering grip at comfort-inducing lower tyre pressures.
HED Sonic Pro hubs house super-smooth bearings to keep rotational resistance minimal, and the 5-pawl, 45-ratchet rear freehub grants near-instant engagement when accelerating away from corners. Sapim CX-Ray spokes link the build, with their bladed profiles further cutting aerodynamic drag.

The anodised surface on Black wheels is a formulation that is harder than the cosmetic coating on many anodised aluminium rims.
With some forethought and minimal maintenance on the rider’s part it will last a long time so please take note of the following points:
1) Use of clean rubber brake pads will result in the longest life of the black surface.
2) Embedded rocks and road grit will wear the anodising much faster than rubber brake compound. Be advised that wet and/or dirty road surfaces will contaminate brake pads. The road grit in badly contaminated pads will wear the black surface.
3) If your rides are regularly on wet and/or dirty roads the hard anodised surface on the Black rims will have a shorter life than it would in dry conditions.
